My Window Grill

My bedroom window has this boxy grill installed when I moved in. I had some pots put there in hope of creating a little garden there to block off some of the heat from the sunlight. Hahaha! Several attempts of that idea were of course not successful. I water when I feel like it and so there were many times that I cruelly let my plants die off. I started with Japanese Roses. Then there was this little twig of a plant I took from the cuttings at Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya and just stuck it in one of the pots. Funny plant, it lived, died and lived and died many times. I thought it was totally gone, but when raining season began, that hardy little plant just sprouted again. It has these quite yellow trumpet flowers and is a creeper. So, with the wet year, this plant is pretty impressive right now...

A neighbour sparked off my interest to plant tomatoes in one of my empty dried out pot so I saved some seeds and put them in there. She had been telling me that she had to continuously water them. So I solved that problem (knowing how dependable I am on watering issues) by recycling some plastic bottles. First I made a hole in the cap and into that, stuck a cord of cotton or cloth much like a wicker. I filled the bottle with water (and later added some organic fertilizer pallets) into the bottle. With one end of the cotton wicker in the bottle and the other buried in the pot, I managed to get the soil constantly damp.

A couple of days later, I had little tomato sprouts emerging from the seeds. !0 days later, I see little tomato plants...

I've added a pot with cherry tomato seeds and another with red chillies. The've just sprouted and have been in the soil for a couple of days. Its been raining too so I may have lost some seeds...

Just to let you know, I have one last pot on the window grill. It has grass...
